Miura Cowl and textured stuff

Although the Miura Cowl from Olga Buraya-Kefelian has been released in 2010, it had not crossed my eyes until today.. What a beauty, all textured and multidimensional ! Reminds me of the shawl that Rastus Hsu is going to be releasing. I like these 3D effects, that enhance the yarn and the stitch work. I think the look of it as well as the colour jumped at me and I placed it in my queue right away. I will need a couple lifetimes to be able to knit all the patterns I like 🙂

You can find the Miura Cowl on her website and on Ravelry.

Please check both her Ravelry portfolio and her website, all of her patterns are so beautiful it is almost impossible to only pick one ! For example, the Hari Cowl that takes textured patterns to another dimension and galaxy !

I have been subscribed to Mari-Liis Hirv‘s newsletter for quite some time now, as I am so interested into anything stitch patterns related. I like to look at them, discover their construction and see the effects unravel as you knit. Mari-Liis Hirv sends a weekly newsletter with so many different stitch patterns ! She also hosts Mystery Knit-a-Longs (MKAL) for lace shawls (she had two this year !). A very interesting resource that I enjoy browsing through each time I have a look 🙂

You also can find her on Instagram and Ravelry.

Journées Nationales de la laine – Felletin (Creuse, France) – october 29, 30 & 31

This past week-end (as I write) was one of the Rhinebeck-like festival we have here in France. Unfortunately, I could not attend, with a very good excuse ! This was the week-end we chose with my sons, months back, to gather and celebrate all of our birthdays of the year. Due to restrictions, last minute flight cancellations and such, one or more of them was always missing on due dates 😿 So I did enjoy my very nice week-end with them, going to a nice restaurant with quality time and bonding.

That said, I will try to arrange and go next year, this will be a 6 or 7 hours drive. On this occasion, the Filature Fonty was open to visit, so sad I could not go as I just hauled yarn from them for my sons’s Holliday presents. The program was so appealing, with workshops, weaving sessions, visits, shows and of course the usual booths for over 140 wool creators only, from all over France and Europe !

If you are curious, you can browse the #felletin21 Instagram hashtag for pictures.

Felletin is located near Aubusson that is so famous for their tapestry art for over 600 years. Please go visit the “Tapisserie d’Aubusson” webpage (EN version available) that has the UNESCO label “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”.

A place to visit of you are in France or if you plan to come at some point.

Espace tricot has resumed their youtube podcasts !

After the change of ownership (see Wooly News #5), I was very pleased to see a new YouTube podcast pop up in my YouTube feed after a year and a half. A cosy and enjoyable talk, Naomi and Stephanie seem to have been podcasting their whole life 😺 I do enjoy watching, I mean mostly listening unless there is some thing I need to actively watch, when I knit. Full disclosure, I watch YouTube podcasts in the evening when I knit.

I am waiting for the next one 🌞

Books, Magazines and Articles

This one is in French and from Alice Hammer, so sorry if you cannot read it, the pictures and illustrations are very good, you may still be able to get most of it. The article is about short rows, that many people fear or do not dare knitting (that’s me for brioche that I am yet to explore). Her whole website is full of useful resources, some of them in English, patterns and you can find her blog post about short rows on this link. She also hosts knitting clubs, both on her website and Ravelry.
