I am not sure where I saw this pattern first. Was it a YouTube video ? An email ? On Ravelry ? Very sorry, I have no recollection.. The modified “gingham style” motif was what caught my eye and attention. The turquoise-peach combination too I guess, although I love the monochromatic version too. An unusual colour work yoke, that is not easy to find nowadays, made with a worsted weight yarn that should knot quite fast.
Free Patterns Highlights
I guess the little scarves train has not lost steam yet ! And I know when it has it will come back again at some point. The Soirée Scarf by Purl Soho has this little pointy elongated triangular shape that will remind you of some other patterns. 50g of a fingering weight yarn ball is enough, perfect for these single skeins or leftovers. The sample is in mulberry silk, you may want to use another cruelty free fibre. These small scarves are perfect to have handy in a bag for these little winds or colder places.
Trends & Echoes
I changed the title of this section a bit as I try not to prompt or enable everyone into too much trends or hype that won’t last. I am quite into a timeless process right now, and “Echoes” may be a better wording, please tell me !
Today, the echo chamber involves the little ruffles you can see on Dārta by Inese Sang, one of the patterns in La Bien Aimée Neons and Neutrals I recently talked about, and have in my own library.
Both patterns share the same inspiration, with different interpretations. The Mar Tee will be offered in both children and adult sizes and Eweknit will have a knit along once the pattern is published (available soon as I write this). Eweknit offers the pattern if you buy their kits, just so you know. You can sign up for the knit along on their own pattern pages (links just above). Claudia Quintanilla is the founder and owner of Eweknit.
As I have LBA’s book, if I feel in need of a ruffle top (which I am considering), I will go for Dārta. You may prefer the other little details on the Mar Tee. I am toying with the idea of a more feminine and delicate tee. We’ll see ! As always, inspiration is in the air and it is quite interesting to see it unravel before our eyes.

De Rerum Natura
With Spring supposed to be around the corner in the Northern Hemisphere, you may be looking for lighter yarn and fabrics. If not to hard to knit on your hands, linen is a good candidate for fresh garments. De Rerum Natura has had a bit of difficulties sourcing organic flax as the world needs have exploded. They now have a partnership with Terre de Lin, a cooperative owned by all the people who work for it, from farmers to transformation and sales. No dangerous products or processes are involved, preserving the its “beautiful energy”. Antigone is close to a DK weight, so very polyvalent.
And just a mention for La Bien Aimée’s pop up shop in Paris that opened two days ago, on March 28th. You have seen it about everywhere, I was very glad to see the yellow windows and storefront again, after she closed her brick and mortar store a years or so ago.

Talking about Laine Publishing once again !
I am not shopping for children sizes patterns or idea, you may though ! From newborns to 10 year olds, Making Memories is available fro preorders, the release date is May 12th. 25 patterns with, I suppose, the usual “Laine touch” that I like much. All patterns are by Claudia Quintanilla, the founder ans owner of Ewekint Toronto, and a famous knitwear designer. The circle is complete, you know what I like !
Who Am I Knitting With ?
Shows
I finished “The Office” I was talking about in last Wooly News, and looked for other shows to follow while knitting in the evenings, when I do not feel like listening to music.
I had watched the first two Picard seasons out of being faithful to my young self who loved Star Trek, watched “Next Generation” series (and then the original series) while in the USA, and “Deep Space Nine” and the movies back here in France.
It was painfully convoluted and not that much interesting. I stuck with it, because I wanted to. But hey, what a drag for me. I do understand it was centred on Picard’s personality and story, with so many side stories, time travels, backwards, forwards, that it lost me. It had nothing to do even with the less interesting movies or series episodes.
I watched the 6 newest (season 3) episodes that aired after watching Supernatural and The Office, I am so enjoying it ! Next episode should be released the night my YouTube video goes up, and you can be sure I’ll be behind my screen. We are back on Star Trek tracks. Adventures, plots, fights, space travels, bad gals and guys, good gals and guys, new species, all the best ingredients for the best recipe. I do recommend you have a look if you did enjoy Star Trek at some point.
I also need to find some other shows, I am sorta browsing around for now.
Yodelice
Yodelice is a French Pop artist (he sings in English) who has a soft electronica side, a bit of rocky pace at times, and a deep voice that speaks to me. I saw him in 2014, at a music festival taking place 20 minutes away from me, after my young kids were so excited to see him. And I loved what I saw and heard, I stuck with him and have been listening to him ever since. Please give him a gentle ear 🙂
